- Rise from Failure: A Journey to Your Best Self
Hey! How Was Last Year for You?
If someone asks me that question, it would feel like a punch in the gut. Honestly, I didn’t like 2024. It was a rough year in many ways, throwing more punches than I care to count. But here’s the thing – we’re not defined by our failures; we’re defined by how we respond to them. In other words, it’s about how we rise from failure!
I’m not someone who waits for New Year’s to make resolutions I make them whenever I feel like it – because why wait for a specific date to decide to do better?
Starting from today and for the rest of my life, I’m committed to rising, battling, evolving, and winning.
So, let’s talk about what it really means to rise from failure, battle, evolve, and win in a way that feels simple and doable.
As James Escalante states,
Life is not about how many times you fall down.
It’s about how many times you get back up.
1. Rise: Taking the First Step Up
Rising is About Showing Up
Rising isn’t about being perfect – it’s about choosing to keep going, even on tough days. Sometimes, just getting out of bed and trying again is enough.
Start Small
Small steps matter. Take a morning walk, note one thing you’re grateful for, or simply take a deep breath and say, “I’ve got this.” Every little effort adds up.
Be Kind to Yourself
Self-criticism can be exhausting. Learning to treat yourself with kindness preserves your energy and helps you rise from failure. Need help starting? Check out my blog on self-compassion!
Forgive Yourself
We easily forgive others, but forgiving ourselves is harder. Letting go of past mistakes and giving yourself permission to move forward is freeing.
Make Peace With Yourself
If peace were a player in hide-and-seek, most of us would struggle to find it. But it’s worth searching for every day. Embracing both strengths and weaknesses helps build self-acceptance and inner peace.
The Journey of Rising
These steps aren’t second nature yet – not for me, and maybe not for you. But with patience and daily reminders, we can learn to rise with self-compassion. Save this blog or find a reminder that nudges you to be kind to yourself.
2. Battle: Facing What’s Hard
The True Meaning of Battle
Battling might sound intense, but it’s really about perseverance. It’s about facing challenges head on- whether it’s a tough conversation, a personal goal, or self-doubt. Some days, the battle feels overwhelming; other days, it’s just about taking another step forward.
Celebrate Small Wins
Battles are won one moment at a time. Acknowledge your small victories, as each one is a testament to your strength and resilience. Reflecting on past wins helps reinforce confidence in your ability to keep going.
Recognizing Your Inner Strength
Look back on the battles you’ve fought and won. How many times have you picked yourself up after a setback? Recognizing these moments is crucial – they shape your journey and remind you of your resilience.
Knowing When to Pause
We’re not machines. There will be times when the fight feels overwhelming, and that’s okay. Sometimes, the best approach is to slow down, recharge, and come back stronger. Resting isn’t failure; it’s self-care.
The Power of Slowing Down
Reading Slowing was transformative for me. It taught me that slowing down positively affects our minds, relationships, and overall well-being. In a fast-paced world, embracing slowness is a radical act of self-care.
Balance Battle with Rest
Life isn’t about constant struggle. As much as you push forward, make time to rest, care for yourself, and embrace stillness. You’re not a hamster on a wheel – balance is key.
Finding Joy in the Journey
Don’t forget to enjoy the process. Those bright moments – big or small – make the hard work worthwhile. After all, life isn’t just about battles; it’s about how you grow through them.
3. Evolve: Growing Into Your Best Self
Growth is a Journey, Not a Switch
Evolving isn’t about instant transformation. It’s about learning from every experience and continuously striving to be better.
Turning Setbacks into Lessons
Mistakes and setbacks? They’re just stepping stones. Ask yourself: What can I learn? What will I do differently next time? Growth happens one step at a time.
Embracing Progress Over Perfection
Perfection isn’t the goal – progress is. Seeing yourself as a work in progress keeps you open to learning and evolving.
Small Habits, Big Impact
Daily habits like exercising, eating well, and practicing positivity add up over time. The little things shape the person you’re becoming.
A Book to Kickstart Your Growth
Looking for inspiration? Atomic Habits by James Clear is a must-read for anyone ready to make meaningful, lasting changes.
4. Win: Celebrating Your Victories
Redefining Winning
Winning isn’t about perfection – it’s about recognizing how far you’ve come. Success isn’t just about money or promotions; it’s about the progress you make every day.
Did you show up for yourself today? That’s a win. Did you push through a challenge? Another win. Every small victory adds up to something big.
Reflect on Your Strength
Rising from failure is already a huge achievement. Take a moment to acknowledge everything you’ve overcome – you’re stronger than you think.
Lessons from the MCU
Some of my favorite Marvel quotes inspire me daily:
“I have nothing to prove to you.” – Captain Marvel reminds us we don’t need validation from others.
“I can do this all day.” – Captain America teaches us resilience – we keep going no matter what.
“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” – Ultron (originally Nietzsche) reminds us that challenges build strength.
Stay Present in the Journey
It’s easy to get caught up in distant goals, but don’t forget to appreciate the NOW. If you want to dive deeper into this mindset, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle is a must-read. It’s helped me stay present and even become a better parent.
